Trees are the earth’s lungs, and wood is one of our most beautiful and precious resource. Milling quartersawn lumber for luthiery is an inherently wasteful endeavor, and every effort should be made to valorize the bits that are not luthiery-grade.

I strive to harvest, mill, process and season as much of the indigenous woods that I use myself, both for sustainability reasons, and in order to control the quality of the final product.

The wood that doesn’t meet the rigorous standards of guitar-making is turned into different things, be it furniture, cutting boards, knife handles, bowls and others.

These are made available for sale occasionally to the people on my waiting list. All are handmade exclusively of solid woods with traditional joinery.

The offcuts that are not adequate for any kind of build are used to feed the bread and pizza oven, and the ash is collected and turned into glazes for my pottery pieces.
